Health & Safety At Work

HICK BROS HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY STATEMENT

Hick Bros Civil Construction Ltd is committed to the protection of all staff and associated subcontractors, and the general public, from injuries and illness that may arise from the company’s operations and services.

Hick Bros Civil Management is committed to:

  • Implementing, maintaining and improving an effective Occupational Health & Safety Management Programme that is integrated into the day to day management practices.

  • Requiring that management at all levels to be responsible and accountable for OHS supervision and leadership in relation to their staff and areas of operation.

  • Complying with all appropriate legislation, regulations, codes of practice and standards relating to OHS.

  • Providing suitable working environments, plant, equipment and materials.

  • Providing training opportunities to both management and staff to facilitate safety at work.

  • Encouraging both management and staff to actively participate in management and continuous improvement of the OHS Management Programme through open and frank communication.
  • Regularly reviewing and auditing the policies, systems and procedures.

  • Assisting staff who have been subject to work and non-work related injuries to undertake work based rehabilitation so that an early and safe return to work is promoted.

It is a requirement that ALL Hick Bros Civil staff undertake and commit to:

  • Ensure their own health & safety and do nothing that can harm others
  • Helping with the identification of hazards and with determining suitable controls that Eliminate, Isolate, Minimise and monitor those hazards.

  • Practice safe work methods at all times and do no act that may endanger themselves or others.

  • Use plant, equipment and materials safely and ensure that all personal protective and safety equipment is used appropriately.

  • Report all accidents and incidents in an accurate and timely manner so that similar accidents or dangerous situations can be prevented.

  • Actively participate in their own rehabilitation following work related injuries or illness.

All staff have the authority to cease any work task or activity where there is a concern regarding safety and to report that concern immediately to their manager or Health & Safety Representative for investigation.
