CEO
Mark is our CEO. He has a sound 'hands-on' background in civil engineering. Mark shares our vision and management philosophy and we believe his expertise will enable us to transform your concept from the initial planning to the final landscaping.
Mark leads the tender processing team and ensures that successful tenders become successful contracts, ensuring we maintain that long-term relationship with you.
Mark also has a young family and playing an active support role in his family’s sports and education is imperative to him. When time allows Mark enjoys pursuing his passions of motor racing competing in Targa rallies with his oldest son as co-driver or to ‘get out on the harbour' with his family or cruise 'the Bay', deep sea fishing.

Steven Hick

Being vastly experienced in using and operating all of the Hick Bros fleet of machinery, Steve enjoys taking a 'hands-on’ approach to managing contracts.
Having more than 25 years experience in the earthmoving industry Steve plays an essential role in the implementation of successful contracts.
Steve believes the company's success is due to its strong background in earthworks and civil construction, no problem goes unsolved at Hick Bros Civil, and open lines of communication mean knowledge is shared to resolve issues.
Steve has a young family and enjoys supporting their many sporting activities. He is also a keen fisherman.

Wayne Hick |
Wayne Hick
Director/Project Manager
Wayne is one of the founding directors of Hick Bros Civil, and began his earthmoving career in the mid 60's, Wayne is able to offer a wealth of knowledge, experience and versatility to the contracts which Hick Bros undertake.
Since the formation of the company, Wayne has managed numerous contracts, his expertise lying with both commercial and residential subdivision developments. He too prefers the 'hands-on' approach. Wayne's list of experience is lengthy and includes the management of the SIlverdale North project, and the development of the decade long Westfield Albany Mega Centre project. This contract is our largest completed earthmoving contract to date, covering an area of some 176 ha. and excavation of over 1.5 million cubic metres of earth.
When time allows Wayne likes to "get away from it all" and spends time fishing and boating.

Cherry Hick |
Cherry Hick
Finance Director
Cherry has a reputable and sound background of administration and business management. She has led the administration team since 1986 and as the company has evolved so has the scope of her position.
Cherry has been the driving force behind our administration planning and progress, and the development of a comprehensive Health and Safety programme. Her belief in 'continuing education’ has seen her and other members of the team attend various courses and seminars, all for the betterment of the company.
Cherry heads our administration team and assists the contract management team with the preparation of tenders, contract budgeting and providing vital job costing information for contracts.
Her qualifications include -
• ISO 9002 Auditor
• ISO 14001 EMS Lead assessor/auditor
• Several papers towards Diploma of Landscaping.
Cherry is passionate about her home and garden and like her husband Wayne is a keen on fishing.

Rob Fenwick - NZCE Civil, NZQC Laboratory Management |
Northern Region Manager
Rob joined Hick Bros in 2006. Rob has a strong understanding and development of construction methodologies. Rob has extensive experience in large earthworks and land stabilization projects and has done a lot of research into difficult engineering soils. Rob drives for excellence in environmental performance and is team focused, and draws on the collective knowledge of the team to achieve innovative or best for project solutions to problems.
Rob has a young family and enjoys coaching his sons junior rugby team. |

Brett Downey |

Brett joined Hick Bros in 2004 as our Regional Manager based in Taupo. Brett has previously held the position of General Manager/Director of Auckland Civil Ltd and is well experienced in all facets of civil engineering projects with 21 years experience in the industry. Brett was responsible for all operational requirements of the Taupo and Central Bay of Plenty region, including all tender submissions, contract administration, staff and plant. After the development of the North Island Central Region, Brett was relocated in 2008 to Christchurch to head the Hick Bros expansion into the South Island. After a successful intergration, Brett is now back in our head office and is leading our construction division |

Peter Andrew - NZCE Civil |
Project Engineer
Peter joined in February 2007 as Project Engineer on the Westfield NZ Albany Development; he has worked on civil construction development and maintenance projects throughout New Zealand and Australia, including Sub-divisional, Resource Mining, Airport Runway, and State Highway construction (Northern Gateway Alliance ALPURT B2).

Greg Reid |
Position Held: Workshop Manager
Greg started his career by completing a Heavy Diesel Apprenticeship with Goughs and has worked on various projects in Papua New Guinea and Australia, repairing mining machines for the oil, gold and nickel industries. Greg also worked in Antarctica repairing machines for 8 weeks. Greg has also been self employed as a wood merchant, arborist and wheeler dealer for 6 years.
In his spare time Greg is a keen fisherman and boatie, and spending time with his young family |
